Question Mobile Processor

Ok, here is the deal.

My mother board supports:
AMD Athlon64 or Sempron
AMD Socket 754 at
800MHz HyperTransport FSB

This is going to be in a desktop machine.

Then only after my order shipped from, did I realize that one, it does NOT come with a heat sync nor a cooling fan and also that I had bought a Mobile processor.

These are the processors specs:
AMD Mobile Athlon 64 3700+
800MHz FSB
1MB L2 Cache
Socket 754

My questions are:
Can I use this in my fathers desktop even though it is a mobile processor AND
does it require a heat sync?
(I bought one anyways)

Processor I bought:
Mobile Processor N82E16819103490
Motherboard I bought:
Mother Board N82E16856101238

If its the same socket and your motherboard supports it, (which it looks like it does) then it will work. You will need a heatsink, just like any other processor.

How do I know what size of a heat sync to buy?

It doesnt give me any dimensions?

Are they just that universal?

Yes they will work, quite well. With a mobile processor you have a cooler more power efficent CPU.

This is what I would recomend as a heatsink

And if you go cheaper.

Now if you are overclocking, you may want the all copper version of the first heatsink.

Now if you are overclocking,
Dude, it's a mobile. Of course he's gonna overclock it.

If he doesn't, we'll just have to hunt him down...
