mini pc to build with my kid suggestions

im looking to retire the old and slow shuttle xps box

and would love to have some suggestions on what I can do

should I reuse the shuttle box (cube with g31v2 motherboard)

or is there anything barebones for around 200 bucks for a similar size pc I can order and put together with him
I want it to be able to run my old games like halo quake3 unreal tournament tron 2.0 etc


I would prefer to reuse the shuttle box but don't know what fits in it

I would like to replace motherboard including the cpu ram and add a video card and also PSU with more wattage.

Google brings up boards that look mATX so anything that size possibly.

I keep seeing that the shuttle boards are proprietary design and even though they are considered mATX most boards don't fit.
is that true or what exactly is different I couldn't find a straight answer

No idea, I've never owned one and the only way you could see is if you had an mATX board. What Google brought up doesn't look proprietary at all though.
