Memron will be for servers, most likely branded under the Xenon name.

Memron = laptop

Conroe = Desktops

Woodcrest = Server

Clovertown = High Power Server

The Memron and Conroe are now officially known as the Core 2 Duo.

Merom ( not memron) = Laptop
Conroe = desktops

both under the name Core 2 Duo, or Core Duo 2. and soon the Core 2/ Duo 2 Extreme.

To Ulater's original question, the Merom is the Conroe for Laptops. The Core Duo processors (Yonah) are great and stuff, and match AMD's clock-for-clock performance, but they lack 64-bit support. The Core 2 Duo (Merom) processors, aside from other advantages, increase the clock-for-clock performance to Conroe's (which is much higher than AMD's) and adds 64-bit support. The Merom processors are drop-in compatible with Yonah, so if you bought a Core Solo/Duo laptop, you can disassemble it and just plop in a Core 2 Duo Merom.
