memory speed question

Ok first off not sure if my computer is considered high performance but anyways I want to upgrade my memory but I was wondering what would happen if I were to use DDR 500 memory instead of normal DDR 400?

hmmm, i dont know much about this stuff, but the max ddr speed for ur motherboard is 400, so im guessing it will crash, or not boot?but dont listen to me, im just a newb

it should just put it down to 400 speeds and then you can overclock it higher

RAM will be clocked lower. If you decide to OC it will be easier on the RAM because it's not running at full speed.
