Default Media PC

I may be posting this in the wrong section....if so feel free to move it to where ever it belongs.

my wife wants to get rid of our stereo in the basement.....equalizer....receiver...turntable.... cd palyer....I said ok, if we replace it with a media pc....something capable of playing all of our music, but I need it to sound **** good....I also need it to be cheap

I can add on some stuff later......

I need the following
1. Mobo.....a nice brand that will sound sweet....any thing cheap stand out?
2. CPU
3. Ram
4. Power Supply......nice solid supply needed
5.Case.......the best cheap case available, will good cooling
6. A nice sound card for music, unless there is good onboard...then I can add later.
7. DVD drive

Any ideas and advice will be greatly appreciated....really looking for some cheap good sound

Do you want it to be capable of playing back HD video and/or Blu rays or is it mainly just for music?

I don't think that mobo has a video out. This one has a HDMI output and it will save you a few more $$$

I would go with a micro-board and a small compact case for a Media PC. The i3 has a built-in gpu that's more than good enough for Blu-ray or any other video format so your Media Player could actually be a HTPC.

Newegg.com - SILVERSTONE SUGO SG02-BF Black ABS / SECC Steel MicroATX Desktop Computer Case

This power supply looks like a good deal for your uses.

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Elite 460 RS-460-PSAR-J3 460W ATX12V V2.31 Power Supply

Or this one for some extra insurance and it's prettier.

Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER eXtreme Power Plus RS-500-PCAR-A3-US 500W ATX12V v2.3 Power Supply

I am patiently following this thread. Media CPU is my second project after I get home. I have to agree with slaymate why go media center with no blue ray playback?
