I wasn't sure whether it is better to SLI 2 Nvidia 8600GT or to just buy one 8800GT.

2 8600gt's would be on par with like an 8600gts... which is still weaker than the 8800gt by a large number..

my friend got lured into the same trap a few months ago.. he ordered 2 8500gt's... now he step-upped one and gave the other to his mom for now , atleast...

Just remember this, the ONLY reason to go multiple card is when a single HIGH end card cant hack it. There is no point to running 2 crappy cards vs 1 good card.

Yeah normally a dual card setup is a waste of money. However atm that isnt so true, with 8800GT SLI and HD3870 Xfire. I mean the performance of those is just sooo good for the price compared to a 8800GTX or Ultra.
