Hello,

I've put together specs for a low cost gaming PC. My budget is around £300 to £350. I already have a copy of Windows Vista x86 OEM which I will install. Here are the specifications:

£13.98 - Case - Casecom LG-3320 Piano Black Mid Tower Case

£16.98 - PSU - Extra Value Black 500W PSU - With 12cm Blue LED Fan 20+4pin 1x SATA 1x PCI-E

£31.10 - Motherboard - Foxconn 6150M2MA-KRS2H GeForce 6150 Socket AM2 onboard VGA 5.1 channel audio mATX Motherboard

£124.95 - Graphics Card - Sapphire HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 Dual DVI TV Out PCI-E Graphics Card

£32.35 - RAM - Crucial 2GB kit (2x1GB) DDR2 800MHz/PC2-6400 Ballistix Memory Non-ECC Unbuffered CL4 Lifetime Warranty

£23.39 - HDD - Seagate ST380815AS 80GB Hard Drive SATAII 7200rpm 8MB Cache - OEM

£11.74 - DVD-ROM -Liteon 16X SATA DVDROM Black

£3.01 - Case Fan - Arctic Cooling 92mm Fan 9

£1.67 - PSU Power Cable - Plexus Kettle Type Power Lead 2m

£0.99 - SATA Cables - 2 x SATA Data Cable

I'm still not certain on which processor to get. I have these processors in mind which are at the lower price range:

£40.39 - CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Socket AM2 2.4GHz Energy Efficient 1MB L2 Cache (2x512KB) Retail Boxed Processor

£47.94 - CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ (2.6GHz) Socket AM2 1MB L2 Cache OEM Processor
(Required) £6.37 - CPU Cooler - Arctic Cooling (AC-ALP-64) Alpine 64 CPU Cooler
£55.99 - CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.9GHz Socket AM2 512KBx2 L2 Cache OEM Processor
(Required) £6.37 - CPU Cooler - Arctic Cooling (AC-ALP-64) Alpine 64 CPU Cooler

The prices (including VAT but excluding P&P) of the main configuration with the different processors are:

1. Configuration with AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4Ghz: £300.54
2. Configuration with AMD Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.5Ghz: £314.46
3. Configuration with AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 2.9Ghz: £322.51

Ideally, I'd like to spend as little as possible, but just enough to buy components that will do the job. Do you think an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 2.4Ghz processor will be adequate for gaming? Also, what's your opinion on the main specs?

Thats one i made for someone else earlier. I understand that prices vary from country to country but currently your build needs tweaking.

Either try and get something like the above or modify your one buy getting a BrandName PSU thats trusted, ie Corsair, Antec and then choose the 5000+ because its a good overclocker.
