The combo Muffin posted is good. Here's a cheaper one:

I don't care for ECS boards, but that seems to be good.

Pair that up with this GFX card:

The 5870. Good luck getting one as it was just released. It's not impossible, but you have to be quicka nd lucky.

Yeah, combos can come and go pretty quick.

Is the difference between the 2 cards worth $250 more for the 5870 over the 4870?
also, what other upgrades will i have to make if i get either of these cards?

The 5870 is far better than the 4870, I'd definitely say the extra money is worth it.

I don't think you'll need anything extra.
