eVGA 256-P2-N584-AR Geforce 7900GT KO 256MB

EDIT:
SAPPHIRE 100154SR Radeon X1800XT 256MB

My tendancy is to go with the Sapphire but I know better than to trust my own opinion

I would say the x1800GTO2 ONLY if its unlockable. If not then 7900gt.

Just felt like comparing specs and the Nvidia drivers are generally better but ATI's are always improving. I would look at benchmarks of the two which I will look for now.

X1800GTO2
16 Pipelines
Core 500MHz
Memory 1000MHz

7900GT KO
24 Pipelines
Core 500MHz
Memory 1500MHz

The 7900Gt is moddable to GTX speeds, sans the Memory.... I'm going to play Rembrandt with mine tomorrow.

Also, If you go with the EVGA, make sure that it is one of the "New" SKU's. The EVGA website has the low-down on which is which.

I would say the 7900GT as well.. it's already got 24 pipes vice unlocking to 16 with the x1800. and it is already clocked a little higher... plus it's nvidia what more do you want???

Nailed it on the head for me... besides since the 7900 is clocked higher it's also going to run hotter... but they are both known for running hot..

512mb or pipelines /oc'd ? lol I got time to think about this more still.. was hoping the replies would be so one sided I wouldn't have to use my brain though lol

thank you guys for all your help so far.. hopefully I can get a few more people to really bash the answer into me still haha

If you could find benchmark comparisons that would be awesome, I had no luck finding any.. :/

I just stumbled across this one as well the pipelines are still less than the 7900 hundred but the core is higher

SAPPHIRE 100154SR Radeon X1800XT 256MB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102008

GPU Radeon X1800XT
Core clock 625MHz
PixelPipelines 16
Memory Clock 1500MHz
Memory Size 256MB

I'm looking in that $260.00 price range

someone said the x1800gto2 is GUARANTEED to unlock to x1800xt since its only bios-locked (not laser shut).. if that is the case, then the x1800gto2 is the better one... since its also cheaper.

the X1800GTO2 can be force-flushed into x1800xt....

And the X1800XT owns an 7900GT .

Although if you are going to vold mod and overclock the 7900gt it might be the better choice, probably still not though, HDR and AA/F looks better on ATI too anyways
