the G5 is basically the same kinda shape. same with the MX5** mice.

not really, i've used both, and there are many differences, 1 being the great comfort the mx 1000 provides. anywayz. i gues sill go with the g5 i can get it for $50.

do you need the wireless if not g5. if you do try t get the g7 which is basically the wireless version of the g5

I've got one of those, except without the forward/back buttons. It's fine for me.
