Question Which LCD monitor should I get?

Hey guys, I'm torn between two monitors. One is 24'' and one is 23'' and the 24'' has better response time, but the 23'' has better reviews. Someone with good knowledge of LCD's please help me out, here's the link to both:

The 23'':

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...18#DetailSpecs

The 24'':

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...61#DetailSpecs

I'm a hardcore gamer so I don't want any ghosting effects.

Also, tell me if my computer won't be able to take full advantage of them for some reason:

Pentium 4 3.04 ghz
1 GB of RD 1066 ram
Radeon 9700 pro

Thank you very much to everyone who helps

IF you're a hardcore gamer, i would step down the monitor to a 19" Veiwsonic VX922, and buy 2GB of RAM, antec truepower 2.0 550w, and a 7800GS.

I would suggest something other than the 2 you posted and the one just suggested, the Sony SDM-P234 23"
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824006084
, it has no, I repeat, NO negative reviews, in fact it states in almost every single one that it has no ghosting, and no dead pixels on any of the LCD panels, judging by the prices of the ones you suggested, I think you can pay a few extra dollars for a sure thing, this LCD is top notch, I'm getting it myself.

yeah dude get a 7900GT, 2GB of ram, and instead of a 23 inch monitor, get the Viewsonic VP930B ( VX922 has apparent problems with playing DVDs and sh1t)

Why would I need 2 GB of ram? You mean to take full advantage of a monitor as big as im getting?

If it helps, I currently use 1600x1200 as my resolution(max resolution) and I get usually around 100FPS in counter-strike.

well an 8ms is usually the cut off, however in real world use, you will see about three times the advertised price... kind of like hard drives and their read/write times

i thought the hp was pretty sick, but then i saw the 16ms... however people say its a great gaming monitor... its like the latest review

Why don't you get an HDTV that is 26" and is cheaper than both of those monitors. Go for the HP LC2600n. It has a lot of inputs, good contrast ratio, and a lot of other features. I am getting that exact one, the LC2600n soon myself. This HDTV on Jr.com or amazon.com is $799 I believe.

Well would 12ms be bad? Here's a link to a dell monitor I just found, what do you guys think about this one:

http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/P...=&refurbished=

It doesnt say in the specs but I've looked it up and it's 12ms response time. Let me know what you guys think of that one.

because it has a really low resolution, will look terrible because it's a TV and because he wants a computer monitor.

my 21" CRT monitor has almost fourteen times the resolution as you'll get from a computer with that HDTV

unless you have a video card with an hdtv output, its not gunna do you any good, it will still be AT MOST 1024x768 scaled down to 480x480 (NTSC) and then stretched across the 16:9 screen.

thats a terrible idea
