Default LCD monitor

Looking to buy a 19" LCD, not sure what to look for in a good lcd. Would like to stay away from off brands as i would think the usual rules apply... cheap price... horribly made. This does not always apply but usually.

So my question again is what to look for when buying a decent lcd.
