I believe #1 is true as well this is from the mobo manual (i remembered reading it when I was building my pc)

9) SATAII0/1/2/3/4/5 (SATA 3Gb/s Connectors, Controlled by ICH9R, Orange)
The SATA connectors conform to SATA 3Gb/s standard and are compatible with SATA 1.5Gb/s
standard. Each SATA connector supports a single SATA device. The ICH9R controller supports
RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 5 and RAID 10. Refer to Chapter 5, "Configuring SATA Hard Drive(s)," for
instructions on configuring a RAID array.

Okay, so I'm getting an Intel E6850 Core 2 Duo CPU and I'm probably going to slap it into this mobo: Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-N650SLI-DS4 LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

I'm fairly certain I already know the answers but here are my questions:

1. Are the SATA 3.0GB/s ports compatable with SATA 1.5GB/s drives?

2. Can I run just one video card even though it's an SLI board?

why not get a q6600 instead? two extra cores for 10$ lesser
