Laptop HDD question

Well as some of you know, yesterday my gaming laptop died. And yes it was a Dell. So my question is, is there any way to put a laptop Hard drive into a PC WITHOUT buying a converter? like some sort of "home-brew" wire that I can make to connect it to the power source.?
