Default Laptop & Desktop build

So I'm looking for a new gaming Desktop and my Mum also wants a new laptop, and I'm after a bit of advice. I'm thinking a budget of $1,000 for each, at the most.
On the Desktop I'd like these features:
-Intel CPU (Quad core or whatever you guys think best for a rig that will be playing games like Skyrim.)
-4-8GB RAM (or recommended)
-Motherboard (no idea what I want there, suggestions would be great)
-GPU (that means graphics card, right? lol) I currently have an Nvidia 9500GT, so no less than that, please. And HD output is a must.
-1TB - 500GB HDD
-DvD+/-RW
-Case can be anything, not worried about looks.
-PSU, I'm up for suggestions.
-OS, Windows 7... Doesn't matter which one, really.
-No mouse/keyboard/monitor needed.

As for the laptop, i'm looking for similar capabilities, if maybe a little less. My Mum isn't going to be doing anything crazy like playing next gen games... but it makes her feel good if she has something as good as me lol.

I've been looking around for pre-built stuff, just to get an idea of what passes as a Gaming PC. Here's a link to the one I found on Ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/INTEL-Cor...item35b1e8087a

What do you guys think about that?

Sorry, but I doubt you'll be able to find a laptop with similar capabilities with the same price range compared to a desktop.

For the desktop:
Newegg.com - Western Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALX 1TB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Newegg.com - G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBRL
Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER HAF 912 RC-912-KKN1 Black SECC/ ABS Plastic ATX Mid Tower Computer Case
Newegg.com - CORSAIR Enthusiast Series TX750 V2 750W ATX12V v2.31/ EPS12V v2.92 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC High Performance Power Supply
Newegg.com - EVGA SuperClocked 01G-P3-1563-AR GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Newegg.com - Intel Core i5-2500K Sandy Bridge 3.3GHz (3.7GHz Turbo Boost) 4 x 256KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache LGA 1155 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80623I52500K
Newegg.com - ASUS P8Z68-V LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard
Newegg.com - SONY Black 18X DVD-ROM 48X CD-ROM SATA DVD-ROM Drive Model DDU1681S-0B - CD / DVD Drives

EDIT: I think that would make it a little over $1000, this case would bring it back under $1000.

Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!

This 6870 is $10 more ($5 more after MIR) and has dual fans and comes with a free $40 game.
