He won't get true surround sound with the z5500 either, it comes with an adapter just like that one.

Where can I find a 5.1 digital decoder? Are certain DD's better sounding then others or they all work the same?

Can I use a Dvd player with build in 5.1 DD for my decoder? Or will I have to purchase addiditional wires to to connect it with?

Just buy a dang receiver.
PS2, Xbox360, DVD, HDTV, PC (all use optical digital) on a Yamaha 7.1 770W receiver with the Klipsch Quintet II's + 400W sub. Works outstanding.
All "made-for-computer" speakers are marginal at best compared to a true surround setup w/ amp.
