Nothing wrong with having more power than you need, but 1000w is morbidly obese for what you're posted here.

What CPU are you going to be using?

No go on the Rosewill PSU. They are not crap, but there's no way I would trust that kind of hardware to one. Check into Antec, Corsair, Seagate.

If you are certain that you will dedicate this Rig to "h264 encoding" then find out which Program you would like to use and then Google for Benchmarks to determine which CPU (and most preferably GPUs) will run it fastest - it can make a huge difference on your GPU (and CPU) choice.

If you know what you want to end up with (fast h264 encoding) then I would work backwards from there. Using GPUs can net a 20-30+ times speed increase over using a CPU. Using the CPU (for the encoding) is not a good idea.

If you need a bigger SSD (for storage) then I would recommend one larger than 120GB (for Video), if it is only for cache then I would advise a PCI-e SSD (and it might be smaller if you can find a small one) as you don't want a bottleneck.

Is it for a Server ?
Would it ever be called upon for other tasks ?

Tell us your Program choice or 'encoding tool-chain sequence'.

While I have not used any of these there are free Trials here for Xilisoft's Programs http://www.xilisoft.com/downloads.html - they have a huge selection and are recommended by others. They claim a 5x increase in transcoding speed: http://www.xilisoft.com/cuda.html

Elemental Technologies (makers of Badaboom): http://www.elementaltechnologies.com...oduct-overview have Hardware Solutions and Badaboom Free Trial: http://www.badaboomit.com/ they are well established.

I can recommend and I have used MediaCoder: http://www.mediacoderhq.com/index.htm , while it has only one Program the Menu has many input and output formats. It uses Nvidia GPUs (for some conversions) and is very fast. It is free.

Try some GPU-based Transcoders and see if you like the concept, Google for more info, come back with some more questions and we will try to help.
