Speed can make up for cache but if your rendering the more the better. I OC'ed my father's E6550 to 3.5 stable but I've heard of E2180 hitting 3.8, not a huge difference but price wise, it is. I would just grab a Q6600 for 260 instead though it's worth the investment. OC to 3.6 and your golden.

well thats why i suggest to either get the e2180 with a tuniq tower so you can get it past 3.5....or just get the q6600.

If i were you, id get the dual core and wait on the new quads.
