I was skeptical about such big price cuts being forcasted, but it finally actually happened. Conroe is supposted to be reasonably priced though, so I'm holding out.

Also, you know you'll need a new motherboard even though it uses Socket T, right?

I'll get the motherboard when the chip comes out. It's gonna be a large purchase of new Mobo, processor and RAM (Kingston 3200 doesn't cut it). I am torn though between upgrading from a 820D 2.8 to the 9xx 3.5. There are more factors involved in it, but that's the gist. The performance results I saw from conroe were pretty amazing.
