Default Intel or Amd for new gaming build?

I am gonna build me a new gaming computer. Just need to decide if I want AMD or Intel. I have never owned a Intel, have always had AMD, so... Any suggestions? I am not going to be buying the most expensive parts incase that makes a difference, build will probally be around $700.00 - $1,000.00. Thanks for any info.

I'd go with what vernong, listed there. All of those parts are usually recommended.

Ya, I would suggest intel for a build of your price range. Or any price range for that matter.

The Intel Core 2 duos have it all over the AMDs at the same price point right now. They have now for about a year. I can clearly remember when I was plugging AMD to everyone who asked (for a couple years). Seems like it would be due to change again.
