Default Installing Raid card w/o windows?

Just ordered a EVGA x58 SLI LE motherboard and i didnt notice form the specs that it doesnt have any IDE readers. i have sata hdd's but no sata dvd drives (which i need to install the os). i have a VIA vt6421a raid controller card that has an ide reader and my question is will i be able to install it somehow through bios? in other words without an os. thanks in adavnce any help would be greatly appreciated

If the controller supports booting and removable devices, and it probably does both, then yes.

i was unable to install it using that method. i also tried installing windows from a external hdd but i wasnt able to successfully install it so i ended up installing windows 7 on my last mobo and right before the first boot i switched it over to my new system and it worked without a flaw.i was very surprised because my last system was extremely outdated. nevertheless i appreciate your help thanks
