I've been reading some guides on building PC's, but I'm wondering something.

Is it "unsafe" to attach the cpu along with the aftermarket heatsink BEFORE installing the mobo into the case? This is what I had planned on doing, because I have to install brackets on the backside of the mobo I believe to accomodate the weight of the heatsink.

I can see where having a mobo tray for your case would be helpful in this matter, but the case I'm getting (Antec P180b) doesn't have a mobo tray.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I usually install the cpu and heatsink before i put it in the case. in fact i'm pretty sure i had instrucions with a mobo once that told me to do that...

great. thanks guys. Can't wait until I can get started. :) Where's that dang UPS guy?! lol
