Installed a soundcard.

I installed a soundcard and got a new headset, I can hear stuff but I can't talk. I went to control panel and unmuted the mic and everything but it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Is it plugged into the right holes in the back of the card?

Using a sound-card you have to mess with your direct sound options and stuff I know.

Usually that would be caused by being plugged into the wrong hole, yes. Check to be sure the microphone is plugged into the 'red' or 'orange' hole in the back of the sound card.
