Default Information Gathering...

i have always been extremely perplexed as to how people find out about the latest technology and such... even my computer-stupid friends found out about vista/longhorn a good year ago. my friend who thinks his geforce 4 series card is still top-of-the-line knows about the AM2 socket coming out soon, and so on. So i am asking those of you who post informational topics about the arrival of AM2, etc... how do you find out about all of this before the majority of people. Do you stumble apon it or have a specific web site?
