The card I was looking at is an XFX 9600 GSO 768 DDR2 card. I'm a bit strapped for cash, so I was looking at the lower end of cards - or should I just be patient and wait?
XFX GeForce 9600 GSO Video Card - 768MB DDR2, PCI Express 2.0, Dual Link DVI, SLI Ready PVT96OSDFH at TigerDirect.com
Other recommendations?
Because its 768MB DDR2 its also probably a 128 bit card. The normal 9600 GSO is 192 bit and 384 MB DDR3. DDR2 is clocked at 1,000mhz, while DDR3 ram is usually clocked between 1,400~1,600mhz. So while it might have more ram. The DDR3 ram is clocked higher and will perform better. Also 384MB of DDR3 ram is more then enough. Unless you plan to game on a 22" monitor or bigger.
To put it bluntly, DDR2 sucks. Go for DDR3 they're usually in the same price range anyways.
