ahhh......feels gr8 to be back in here!!!...

Anyways.....I recently got an i7 thanx to ppl at tecforums:D

And now my friends wants one tooo:cool:.....but hes really short on budget!!!

Hes got like only $850 for all his parts....INCLUDING THE MONITOR!!!!....not the speakets tho

Hes not gonna be gaming much....more into vedio editting kind of thing:laughing:

So does any one has suggestions for this rather impossoble build:(????

Help is always appreciated:happy:

You're saying he wants to have an i7 build for $850? Possible, but only with a crap motherboard.

Does he need an OS?

If he has a microcenter within driving distance he can shave about 30-50 bucks on the i7 depending on the sales tax.

You could save $40 by getting 3gb of ram wich should eb fine for video editing. Ram is easy to upgrade anyways if he needs more in the future

Newegg.com - G.SKILL 3GB (3 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

I would put some of the money saved on the ram towards getting a decent case or if he plans on doing any gaming a better gpu

Newegg.com - Antec Three Hundred Black Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases
or
Newegg.com - POWERCOLOR PCS AX4670 512MK3-P Radeon HD 4670 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

I'd put the surplus money into the HD 4670, because of ATI Stream which will be useful since he likes Video Editing

But now that I think about it... if he uses AMD Stream technology, he probably won't need an i7 then... or you could reciprocal it depending on which would encode faster. Agghh, look at me contradicting myself haha.

AMD Stream is great but until every program supports it having a fast cpu like the i7 will still be helpful.
