Ideas on a 24" LCD?

Hi all, I really want to upgrade to a 24" LCD. Can anyone give me any good recommendations? I do gaming and watch videos on my PC, plus neet surfing. Also, it seems all of them are wide screen, what happens in older games if you play them?? I saw some Dell monitors which looked nice, and many of the LCD panels have what looks like a shiny plastic or glass coating on the outside which really seems to enhance the image. I'd like to stay at or under $550 US. Any ideas?

that glass will cause glaring if the sun or any light were to hit the screen. I just an LG L246WP-BN which I love. 1000:1,500cd/m2, Color accuracy is superb,1080p, HDMI, audio in,usb ports, vga no dvi though, adjustable stand. Its one of the better monitors. You could get a Hanns-G 28" monitor for $500. 800:1, 3ms response. Or an acer p24 or x24
Costco - HannsG 28" Wide True 1080P with HDMI 3ms 800:1 500 cd/m2

you can find a nice 24" from samsung under $500. LG's are a bit more expensive usually.

I was gonna suggest the LG that third has lol its what i'll be getting sooner or later >.>

LG's are a bit more expensive but the panels are superior. Except for the new one >< the L246WP-BN and L245WP-BN are both excellent.

Anything else i'd suggest samsung.

i would say no. it would be a bit of a down grade i would think minus the 4" size increase.

LG uses the best panels that are made for LCD's (made by panasonic)

I'd just stick with that..you'll just be using a stretched out 1920x1200 you'll notice more jagged edges from the stretched resolution.

NosBoost300 has that monitor, ask him how it likes it.

he said he loves it. But the Hanns-g has bad reviews. I love my monitor but another 3.5 inches would be nice.

in the end its up to you. i think i'd rather stick with that sweet LG. and like mgcook said it would be a stretched 1900x1200 compared to a 24"
