Default I need Some Good Gamer PC'rs Help!!

Hey guys i just found this forum and i was looking for some help!

I just bought Call of Duty World at War
its a sick game , but my computer can only run it on LOW Settings and its not as many FPS as i want it to run.....

Here is my setup,

Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz

3 GIG ram

GeForce 8400 GS 256mb

Now When i lag it seems to be when i get in big open areas or Smoke/Explosions.

But when im in a Room it doesnt?!?

So if i upgrade the Graphics Card will it solve the Problem?

If you could help me Go easy on me im a noob :P

your cpu is fine, although a mild overclock to 2.8/3 ghz wouldnt hurt but ur right, its your graphics card thats letting you down. rooms in a game are alot easier fun a card to render than a large area with many objects while there are shader effects like smoke and light. a very good option to keep it cheap would be a 4850 or even a 4830 which should max out the game.

Yeah I had this card too and ran CoD4 around 40~fps

I have a 8600GT and I'm always around 125~fps

Just get a better video card and you'll be in gamin heaven, it all depends on your PSU and budget though :/

regardless what psu he has a 4850 shouldnt be too much of a hassle to run with the system he has.

man, if u can run 125 fps with 8600gt the 4850 will kik ***
just to be save, either post a newegg link of ur psu or tell us the amperage rating on the side sticker.

he can still look for the sticker, what i mean was, chances are that his psu could handle a mid range graphics card, i doubt its at its limits to run his system now.

eeewww a 8400 is only just poweful enough to play flash games. Assuming you don't want to install a new psu then get this:
Newegg.com - Palit AE/38700+HD52 Radeon HD 3870 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
Should run ok but really you should get a new psu with a higher end card

I wouldn't try to run a upgraded graphics card with the stock psu. this Rsewill Rp500-2 will run a 4850 without a problem.

Newegg.com - Rosewill RP500-2 500W ATX12V v2.01 Power Supply - Power Supplies
