Alright guys, I have a serious problem here. Whenever I have my x1900xt installed instead of the gtx 260 my speedfan readings for the processor are 44 degrees idle 63 degrees load while the processor is overclocked. When the GTX is in the computer the processor temp is 56 degrees idle 85 degrees load. WTF is going on here?

The GTX is a hotter running card, its also bigger restricting airflow.

Install rivatuner and increase the fanspeed to around 60% and temps should drop some.

The stock cooler sucks also, a core contact would do you much better.

No, i'm saying that my processor temperatures are changing based on what vid card I have in. Perhaps when the GTX card is in my actual processor temps are being read. I thought it was strange that my processor temps were not changing despite it being overclocked to 3.0ghz.

I know.

Case airflow is affected by the gpu. Hotter running cards can affect case airflow, making the cpu temps higher. Turning the fan speed up on the card will pull more hot air out, lowering the internal temperature.

And replacing the stock cpu cooler with an aftermarket cooler can create drastic temp changes.
