How's This Sound?

I don't understand why you don't want to use it. Simply getting a board for it would be way cheaper than a board/CPU combo, and be faster than all things you can buy in that price range including 2500k based setups.

I don't know half as much as the regulars here, but after a quick look through newegg i definitely agree with PP.
This motherboard, for example (not recommending it, just the first i found for that processor) is $215 usually, and i think its in some deal right now, and costs $165.
The processor and motherboard of this build is $190 altogether. So, you are saving $25, and losing out on a load of processing power.

Also, I'm pretty sure that motherboard will be better than the one in the build you suggested.

Well that's what i get for having a 'quick look' then :')
What did i miss? I was under the impression LGA1366 was all you needed to look for in the motherboard... Is it the X58 part?
