How does this rig sound

My sister wants to buy my current rig so i'm upgrading sooner then anticipated. Wanted to wait till dx10 cards and windows vista. So anyways I just wanted your guys opinion on the parts i've chosen. Final price comes to about $1100 dollars which is about my price range. Anything that you guys would change or does everything look ok.

Man, I am an AMD fanboy, but Core 2 Duo is the way to go right now. Get one around the same price as the X2, and you will be a happy camper. The Mobo, PSU, and everything else look good, but the vid card... eh, not so much. Do not get me wrong, it is a great card, but I say that you take some of the money from other items and get a DX10 card, or wait for a bit. No use in upgrading to another DX9 card at this point in time....

Would u recommend something along the lines of a 7600gt or gs for $140 or go even cheaper.

And regarding the cpu i think in the specs it says its dual core unless im reading it wrong. It says

DX9 will be around for a while, so I wouldn't worry to much about that... game companies are not going to ditch most of they're support base for DX10 anytime soon. BTW...

what about a case?

yes the Ghz is a little higher on the 4200, but the L2 cache out weighs that...

X2 is a dual core, but the conroe's are by far the way to go nowadays. I highly recommend Intel's chips and I'm an AMD fanboy as well since I can remember. All my current PC's are AMD, but my new one will be intel driven for sure.

Core 2 duo E6300 is much better than X2 4200+ and it is priced the same.

Ok, you guys have talked me into a conroe, i've read good things about it. Hows this combo? And for someone who asked earlier heres the case too.

This comp is looking to be almost $1200 now. In your guys opinion do you think i would be better off getting the e6300 for around $180 and maybe getting the geforce 7950gt, or maybe sticking with the 7600 for 140 and getting another gig or ram. Or maybe wait and see if memory goes down in price. Just want to get the best bang for the buck cuz i'm near the max of what i wanted to spend.

Get the e6300 and the 7950gt, that combo will bust the balls out of any game. Remember, GPU is more important than CPU in gaming, if that is what your primary application will be.
