Why is he getting the 680i nforce mobo? Is he going to SLI? If not I don't think its worth it. What does the MSI P6N platinum mobo have over the giga-DS3R?

Im going with this MB because it comes as a combo deal with the Q6600 for about $550. The MB alone is worth around $220 so that makes the Q6600 sit at about $330. I can't see it dropping any lower than that for the July 22nd price-reduction. Or am I wrong?

well its q6600 is supposed to drop to 266 come July 22nd ( a week away ), 266 + 220 = $486, you can save yourself 64 bucks if you can wait a week. Also if your not going to SLI, then the nforce 650 and 680 boards are definately not for you. the P35-DS3R can overclock further then the nforce 650 and 680 mobos.

It appears that Tigerdirect doesnt have it at least at the moment.

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35C-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

As much as I like the layout of Tiger much better. Newegg has a much better selection of coponents.

I understand that, and it is unfortunate, but at least you can see the board and maybe find it locally if you like it.

Also, check out the price difference on the other board you picked out.
Newegg.com - ASUS P5N-E SLI LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 650i SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

That isn't always the case, but it often is.

wow, not a bad deal. just be careful buying that on ebay. make sure its from someone with a good user rating and a long history or you don't know what you are getting.
