I'm planning on building my own computer. This is the first time I will be attempting this. Here are all of the parts that I'm looking at.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103539 - Processor $222
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813131569 - Mobo $92
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16811129155 - Case w/ PSU $100
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820145440 - RAM $76
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822135106 - Hard Drive $55
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16821103116 - Floppy $10
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16827101131 - CD-ROM Drive $22
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16814102465 - Graphics Card $187
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16826104178 - Mouse $36
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16823126135 - Keyboard $20
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16836121109 - Speakers $20
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16824160144 - Monitor $90

Total = $930

My main questions about this:
*Will this be able to play HL2, Quake4, and FEAR?
*Can all of these parts work together without problems?
*Will the Radeon graphics card work with the Mobo, which has an nVidia chipset on it?
*Is there some way to keep this same amount of power, or increase the power without increasing the price?
*Is the powersupply decent enough?
*Is the case decent enough?
*Will I need any more cooling devices? (which I'm awear will bring the price up)

I hope you guys can answer these questions. I've looked into these things myself, and see no reason why this shouldn't work. But just incase I've overlooked something, I'm asking you. Remember, I don't want the price to go up.

The graphics card will have no trouble at all working in this system. Keep in mind that the games you want to play make heavy demands on your hardware. The graphics card you listed is very good, but you won't be able to play F.E.A.R. on its highest setting.

The case is fine, but I don't know enough about that particular Antec power supply model. Now Antec makes great PSUs but I have read where certain models in the 400+ range were crapping out (I have the Antec TP 2.0 550 watts), I would go over to Newegg and just key in that particular power supply and read the reviews. Make sure your PSU supplies at least 30A on your 12v rail.

Good RAM, excellent CPU, and a great deal on the DVD drive. You obviously have done your homework. Hope this feedback helps.

I would recommend the 6800GS video card a different motherboard. If overclocking, DFI Lanparty Ultra-D. MSI makes some nice boards as well. I'd personally reccomend a more expensive ASUS board, like the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium or Deluxe. If that's too expensive, you may want to look at the Epox EP-9NPA+Ultra.

Cool, glad to see I've picked out some good pieces that work together and thanks for the feed back, it did help. I have a question about the power supply though; how can I tell if it sends 30A to my 12v? Is it this (the part that I've made bold):
Output: +3.3V@32A, +5V@30A, +12V1@15A, +12V2@17A, -12V@0.3A, +5VSB@2A

Not planning on overclocking, and not looking for SLI.

The X800pro is balls, espesially for the price. Get a 6800GS, or an X800GTO2, which unlocks to an X850XTPE. Also, ASUS motherboards for AMD are not to good, with the exception of the AN832-SLI Deluxe, which IMO is the best socket 939 mobo, however it is hard to get and it costs $200+. I would get a DFI LanParty UT nF4 Ultra-D, also, power supplys that come with cases really suck, they use the cheapest possible parts and lie about their specs. I would Get an Antec TPII550, which is not the best you can get, but it's a very good bang for your buck PSU. After all, if the PSU in your case ends up being faulty, it can take all your hardware down with it. Also, you might CONSIDER getting 2GB of RAM, it will help a lot with stuttering in FEAR and BF2.

Also, might want to get some better speakers:

Fortran makes good PSU's and the 12v rail combination is 38A -- excellent. Duplicity's recommendation of the Epox 9NPA+Ultra is a great suggestion. It is a good solid motherboard and good for overclocking as well. AnandTech.com gives it their Editor's Choice Gold Medallion award. www.hardocp.com really made this board go through the tests and -- well just go over and read their reviews. Top marks.

Also, agree with 003 on His suggestion of either the X800GTO2 or the 6800GS - both excellent cards. Again it shows you've done serious research. Hope it goes well for you.

so this machine si for gaming. let suggest this others goona disagree but **** then. Get an amd 63 3000 instead, and put the monry u saved toward a better graphic card. in games the graphics card is the one the do the most work. cpu do some but not enough that a faster cpu woudl give you big performance boost.
