Default Higher mhz RAM?

Hey all, a question about RAM, is 667mhz RAM that much better than my current 400mhz? Is it practical? I haven't looked into computer parts for a while and a lot has changed! What's the deal with higher mhz RAM? Sorry if I'm being too broad.

I'm fairly new to this myself and ive been doing a bit of research recently to put together a computer. I've actually found that DDR2 ram is almost the same price as DDR ram, and you can also get a compatible motherboard without having to spend more than about $20 extra, if that.

I cant say exactly how much faster DDR2 ram is, but for $20-25 more, i think it would be well worth it.

It your using a AMD machine then you cant use DDR2, but there are DDR sticks that can easily overclock to them speeds.......

DDR400 used in AMD64 systems performs roughly the same, if not better than faster raw frequency DDR2 used in Intel systems due to the HTT bus memory bandwidth
