High speed or low latency ram?

im gonna be sanding all the tin off my cpu( lapping it) and try and oc farther, currently im at 936mhz for my ram and its at 555 15. ive got the crucial balistix btw.

Sounds awesome but I think you misunderstood me. I had a question whether higher speed ram or lower latency ram would result in better overall PC function.

With my current clocks I can run 850mhz w/ 4-x-x-x or 1065mhz w/ 5-x-x-x .

Run it at 400 mhz so it's at a 1:1 ratio with your CPU.

it depends on the setup and what you use it for.

Run a gaming timedemo at the 850mhz setting then the 1065mhz setting and see which one performs best.

Nah i run 1:1 cause i'm too lazy to bother with finding the max oc on my memory

850mhz w/ 4-4-4-12 = 15074

1065mhz w/ 5-5-5-15 = 15129

Very little difference. May try an in game benchmark like you suggested.

Sandra shows the 1065mhz to have much better bandwidth.

TBH, you can probably get away with running 850mhz and setting the timings to 4-4-3-8 like guru and i have. Try that then run another bench.

the ballistix should do 4-4-4-10 at the very least on 2.2v and 850mhz

Mine do 4,4,3,8 up to about 960mhz

Since you are running 4x1gb you might have to give the northbridge voltage a bump thoguh.

hmm i think im gonan try 444 10 and then try 443 8 my ram is at 800mgz now.
