A family friend wants me to build a gaming rig for their son and currently I'm investigating motherboards. I built my computer back in 2004 before-Christmas so I'm not really up to date on what exactly is industry-standard, what exactly is top of the line. They aren't really looking for top-of-the-line, something around one grand.
I know enough about the industry right now that all of the dual-core stuff is fairly prevalent, as well as PCI-Express x16 graphics. (I'm pretty sure that the whole SLI setup will be overkill for these people, not to mention out of their budget - but is it bad to buy a mobo that doesn't have the capability to do this?)
Maybe someone can reccomend a good mobo socket 939 that's compatible for the AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPUs...
Thanks!
