the psu is an overkill you will not need anywhere near that much power

also unless he plans on doing crossfire go with a simpler motherboard, like an asus p5b?

the cpu is an overkill too, i would recommend the e6600

Very overkill on the PSU and as for the quad core, the E6600 can perform just as good with today standards in terms of power. I wouldn't mess too much quad cores yet, let dual have its day.

You want to Spend 249 Bucks on a Power supply and you choose Cooler Master? OMFG ROFLalicious!!!!!!

If you wanna go over kill on a power supply at least choose a Good brand Like
PC Power and Cooling
Corsair
Etasis
Zippy

However this Power supply is more than enough to power that Rig and it tops the list in quality.

Corsair CMPSU-620HX

Also the rest of your build is over Kill.
E6600 (Sycthe Ninja + Artic Silver 5 + 120 MM Fan.
Keep motherboard
2 GB's Corsair Dominator DDR2 800
8800GTX (Wait to see how the R600 Cards preform, so either buy what I suggested or wait till benchmarks and extensive testing)
Keep the Raptor And Get a 250 or 320 GB Seagate SATA 16 MB Cache Drive as Storage.
As for the Optical drives...
Two Plextor, Optorite or samsung DVD Burners
Audigy 2 ZS or X-fi

Ok, I'll pick a different PSU, however he is determined to have quad core. I told him a dual core e6600 is plenty, however he is determined, and WTF it's his money.

Edit: What would be a good PSU for this system?

I already told you
Corsair 620 Watt

Its one of the Best and its MORE THAN ENOUGH.
If you insist on NOT buying that one for whatever Reason. Choose from these brands and you won't go wrong.
Silverstone
Forton
Enermax
Seasonic
PC Power and Cooling
Etasis
Zippy
OCZ
