I'd trade one of the 150GB raptors in for a 2nd video card (and I'd change that to 2x 7900 GTX 512MB btw).
Also, might as well buy a WD 250 Caviar as a slave, I think you'd save yourself money and be happier with the extra 100GB of space. As long as the WD Raptor is your primary HDD, the slave doesn't need to be 10krpm as well, 7200rpm should be just fine for a slave.

it can't hurt

Thanks for the advice, I upgraded to the DFI motherboard listed above. Also switched secondary hard drive to a WD Caviar SE16 500GB 7,200 RPM, listed above as well. On the issue of another 7900GTX, perhaps, I'll have to order one and see how that fits in the motherboard first though.

I still find myself very confused on the issue of the PSU. I looked at all the above listed PSU manufacturers and there seems to be a number of "blown out" reports, though, I suppose that's a rather common thing.

Another point is the general wattages of those suggested, those being 580-620 maximum, I'd be a bit concerned about their ability to handle these specs, I can live with some noise, just not if it is particularly annoying, anyone have some insight on the actual noise level of the PC Power & Cooling 850W SSI?

SOunds like a nice build. You should look for a 40-50" LCD for it or maybe dual 30"LCD's.I my self run a 42"LCD which makes thing a whole lot better.

honestly, you could say that at any point in time, I might as well get top of the line now than wait until then and be told the exact same thing.

I know but there is no really purpose for the FX-60 becuase games only use a single core, but I guess it is furture proof. Not much though becuase when when dual-core games come out AMD X2 will have much higher clocks than 2.6ghz.

that said, I do insist on buying now, whether it is practical for now to be buying dual core, yes, it is future-proof, besides that, at that point I honestly wouldn't care about having top-end at that particular moment, I'm comfortable enough with buying top-end now, as things go with these particular specs I think it will be a great performer and last me for many years to come.

The Venus Lanparty motherboards were a limited run only. Newegg needs to pull that down because they probably won't get anymore. Get the SLI-DR regular, I hear that the Expert has some problems. Don't even bother overclocking if you have an FX-60, you void your warrenty and something that powerful doesn't need overclocked to improve performance. Try and get 2 EVGA 7900GTXs, don't get the PNY versions as PNY is not a reliable company (trust me, I have personal experience).

The MX518 is better then the G5 IMO. And I don't like wireless mouses for gaming. Get the Logitech G15 keyboard, also get a kick *** sound system and/or speakers.

Then get a nice 20" LCD that has high resolutions and low response time (8ms or lower)

You also chould grab a PPU (physics proccessing unit) that should be coming out sometime in May.

Personally I wouldn't spend this much on a system, but if your willing then more power to you .

Actually, I forgot that SLI 7900GTXs will take up a PCI slot on a DFI motherboard. I would go for the Expert if you get a PPU because the sound card would take up one and if you get a PPU you won't have an open PCI slot. But you could get the PCIe x1 version which was said to be coming.

I try not to let limited editions hinder me from getting it, I will still try to obtain one, though upon further inspection it seems they are rather rare.

Is there any specific problem with the BFG Tech variant of the 7900GTX or advantage to the eVGA variant? I have read some good feedback on BFG Technologies, I haven't read much into eVGA.

Reading up on the PPU peripheral, it sounds like a rather nice addition, I'll definetely be keeping my eye on that.

Now, on the part of the LCD, I haven't seen good things in regard to them, they all seem very prone to ghosting, dead pixels, etc. As this will be primarily used for gaming, I think I would rather stick with the tried and true CRT.

Excellent build, may i suggest a monitor?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824116375

or this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824014111

these are excellent, 2ms response times so minute to no ghosting whatsoever, and in regards to response time, is it possible to have a monitor with 1ms response time?
