Default Helping Friend Buy a Laptop

So my friend wants a laptop for school...he wants it to be able to play CSS smoothly and it should be future proof for a few years.

Now from my research this seems to be a pretty good deal...am I wrong? Can anyone point me to a better one? (he's just starting college so I figure Accidental Damage protection is a great idea) I speak from experience. beer+laptop = zap

All this for $1,270.94 shipped. Seems like a great deal to me:

You could build a laptop from using a barebones laptop from Asus, then buy the rest of the hardware from newegg or zzf. I remember that I came up with a $1480 figure for a loaded configuration of 2gb ram, T2600 cpu, 120gb hdd, x1600 pro gpu. Compared to a similarily configured macbook pro which would of ran $2900.

If it was me I would never buy a manufactured computer of any kind (except pocketpc...not much you can do there)

But it's not...also his parents are funding some of it so they want a warranty and all that.

Then yeah it looks like a good deal, its about the same price as if you were going to buy all the components and build it yourself.
