well I am no longer getting DDR3 ram, the motherboard I planning on getting doesn't support it.

-I was planning on getting this:
Newegg.com - OCZ Reaper HPC 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

but someone above said to get 800 mhz instead of 1066 mhz? I don't exscally know why...anyone can chim in.

and on the PSU note. I guess I'm going to down size.

Newegg.com - SILVERSTONE ST85F 850W ATX 12V 2.2 & EPS 12V Power Supply 100 - 240 V RoHS, FCC, CE - Power Supplies
or
Newegg.com - CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX 620W ATX12V v2.2 and EPS12V 2.91 Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CUL, CE, CB, FCC Class B, TUV, CCC, C-tick - Power Supplies

same price, both modular, but the silverstone is 850 compared to a 620.

^ i told u already

mhz is not everything, 1066 kits have higher timings which you would have to tighten to improve speed which would limit how much you could overclock your ram.

so system update:

CPU: Intel Q6600
CPU Cooler: Rifle 120mm
MOB: Asus Rampage x48
MEM: OCZ Reaper HPC 8GB DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
GPU: HD 4870x2
PSU: Cosair 620hx
HD: WD Caviar Black 1 TB

Still under consideration:

Antec 900 vs. Cosmos S
300 gig Velociraptor

Question:

Will this power supply be able to power (2) hd 4870x2. If not recommend one that will. thanks.

i don't know about 2, i think that would be pushing a 620hx, im not sure (perhaps Ste could clear it up) but i would say go for a 750tx.

The price of Q9550 has dropped

You may want to get it instead of Q6600 if your budget allows
Newegg.com - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

Is the upgrade to a Q9550 worth the extra 150 bucks?
