Default Help! Need motherboard advice.

I'm looking to build a new computer within the next few months, but I'm stuck at square one. Currently the candidates for a motherboard are some flavor of an Intel P965, 975X or nForce 680i SLI chipset.

A few guidelines that I'm going by:
I'm building this as an upper end gaming rig today, but I'd also like it to last 5 years so I don't really care if the parts are cutting edge.
No overclocking. I don't know enough to do it and I don't want my shiny new machine melting on me.
Looking to spend around $300 on the board.

Other things I'd considered putting into the build are:
Silverstone 600W PSU
Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 CPU
2 GB RAM

Most of all I'm stuck on the motherboard. The rest will fall into place after that. Most motherboard reviews seem to be written for overclocking so I'm not sure what to go by. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks!
