def get an 512mb 8800gt or the 9600gt... the 8800gs is an old chipset and is slower and not near the bang for your buck as the 8800 or 9600gt's

Thanks guys for the solid help!

So essentially I took all your advice

Changed the processor from the qaud to the dual core E8400
Changed the video card to the evga 8800 gt
Removed 2 optional fans
Removed Sound Card

Question about the heatsink. Does it matter if I get a heatsink pipe without/with a fan? Or is are they two things that I must buy seperatlely?

As what size will fit my case? I want to shop around for different ones

Besides all that..All these parts are compatible? Would actually make a good machine?

eh u might want to look into that ya there both good cpu's but the q6600 is gonna last a **** of alot longer then the e8400,

also if your getting the cm690 pretty much any cooler will fit in that case so dont worry about thing not fitting.

if you are getting a heatsink with out a fan its pretty much required to buy an extra fan to place on it if you want to keepyour computer on for a long time.

The E8400 is an awesome chip and overclocks like mad. A quad is pretty much a novelty right now. Give them a year or two and a quad will be mainstream.

2x1gb allows for dual-channel memory reading, but a single stick may be just as fast. A single stich will allow you to add another 2gb stick later. But if the 2gb stick fails, you are without a computer until it is replaced... with 2x1gb you can run on just one for the time being. Go with the 2x1gb.

2 1gb sticks is faster than 1 2gb stick... also idk if you can run ram in 1 dimm setups any more these days... the reason 2 1gb sticks are faster than the 1 2gb stick is that you are doubling the readable bandwidth by using 2 sockets rather than one... also what cpu cooler are you getting.. many come with a fan

Right now the heat sink is Thermalright MST9775 Heatpipe Heatsink LGA775 92MM 2500RPM 45.5CFM 31DBA

While the extra fans Thermaltake A2329 Silent CAT 120MM 1600RPM 62.2CFM 16DBA Sleeved 3PIN Cooling Fan

i would go with the TRUE 120 and a single fan.. much better performance for a lil more ... plus it will require less power
