Default Help me choose a conroe motherboard...

I have narrowed it down to these three. Im leaning towards the MSI as its the cheapest and seems to provide the same things. Is it worth going to the S3...Or even the DS3 for the price?

Both the MSI products I bought (video card and Mobo) were defective, don't know if this is something that happens often with them but it did with me. I have a gigabyte right now and it's great and it was cheaper than the MSI mobo.

HHmm well I dont want that. Anyone else had bad experiences with MSI? I heard their not as good at overclocking but honestly I doubt I ever will anyway.

Hello,

I tried a couple of MSI MoBo's, but that was Skt 754. They both failed. I have also used and am still using both Gigabyte and Asus. Both have been stable and noob-friendly (not implying that you are - that's me).

Have you taken a look at the Asus P5B? Evidently the newest BIOS version has capabilities to "open the Multiplier lock". A moot point since you may not be OC'ing. I wanted the Gigabyte 965P Deluxe (I think thats the name), but did not fit into my budget. I settled for the Asus P5B.

IMO (based on user reviews), the Gigabyte would be your best bet.

The MSI K8N Neo4 series for AMDs S939 had a good reputation, but the motherboards for the other platforms have a pretty negative reputation. Not speaking from personal experience, however.

Either the S3 or DS3 should be fine.

The DS3 has solid caps, the S3 does not.
