Get this HD

Get this MB

If you're gonna do some gaming you need this video card or better
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130214

And you're going to need this PSU or better

No offence but you made some quite bad choices with the hardware you picked out

The cpu and mboard you have there are fine. But you do need to change the rest of that stuff. Video card is dependant on what you are doing with the computer. Yes, any video card with a pci-e connection will work.

Ya, what they said hardware wise. As for the motherboard, why should he get a DFI? Lol... isn't it a no noob mobo? I'd tell him to get good Gigabyte or Abit mobo for ~$40-50 cheaper.

Now, when you put it together, it's pretty stright forward. If you're installing an OS on a new HD it should be a breeze. I'd suggest buying OEM windows XP home or pro. They run ~$80-90 and ~$130-150.

I'd also suggest only buying from major online resellers. Newegg is widely regarded as the best, I just used Mwave.com and they shipped an order faster than newegg when I orderd from both of them at the same time. So so far Mwave's ok in my book also. Other wise Tigerdirect.com and Monarch are good, but I think they're somewhat overpriced usually. I wouldn't venture away from those 4 if you can.

I's also suggest getting at least a 6800GS for your graphics card, they run around $200 exactly and for approx ~$70-90 you get a lot more for your money.

OK, I'll admit I'm not top-notch. I made some dum mistakes with a comp I threw together last night out of old computers (fixed btw , and I'm waiting for parts to come in before I'll get to my first real build, but I do some **** good reasearch if I don't say so myself, so tell us how much your budget is and what the primary use is. You can make a pretty decent basic system starting round ~$400, a budget gamer for ~$5-600 and the more $$$ you throw at it the better it is and longer it'll last. I'll assume you have mouse/keyboard and a suitable moniter (any moniter really), so how much are you willing to spend on the tower?

What is your budget? That psu will definatly not be enough to power it. Look into the Antec True Power series, OCZ, Forton, Enermax.

I got a DFI for my first build and i havent had any problems setting it up. I think so who say it isnt a noob board are those who dont read about it first. But it is kind of wasted if you arent going to OC or tweak things yourself.
