get this one

Newegg.com - ECS N9600GT-512MX-P GeForce 9600GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

just get the best cheapest u can find they are all the same architecture

if u see "Run hot" that means that the manufacturer has bad fan

EDIT: yeah it is fine the 8800GTS is the double size of the 9600GT

Hmm, I'm not sure now which processor I should go with, the tri or quad.

I am planning on keeping this rig for a while, but will probably make small upgrades every few months.

Thoughts?

Stick with a Q6600 on stock the Q9300 are more for the enthusiasts. a q6600 will handle games now and in the future well. on decent settings.

as for your case try not to get a mid tower if you can.... i've had bad experiences with mids. whats the most you have to spend on a case? or would like to spend. so i can get a general idea of what to recomend.

So will the Q6600 work with an AMD motherboard?

The one I was reccomended is here: Newegg.com - BIOSTAR TA770 A2+ AM2+/AM2 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard - AMD Motherboards

If not, can someone reccomend me one within my price range?

Thanks alot.

Newegg.com - GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX All Solid Capacitor Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

how about this one lots of ppl recommend this mobo

i think it wont work because it doesnt support LGA 775 Socket

EDIT: Newegg.com - GIGABYTE 3D Aurora 570 GZ-FA1CA-ASB Black 1.0 mm Aluminum body ATX Full Tower Computer Case - Computer Cases

yeah the socket on the mobo and cpu have to match so you are right proto.

Id say get the board proto recommended but id say get an e8400 and upgrade in the future later on.
