i might be (most probably) be upgrading my gpu with in the month, i just can't decide what i should go with.

normal 4870 Newegg.ca - HIS Hightech H487F512P Radeon HD 4870 512MB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

or 4870 x2 2gb Newegg.ca - SAPPHIRE 100251SR Radeon HD 4870 X2 2GB 512-bit (256-bit x 2) GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards

obviously performance wise obviously the x2 would be the better choice but i just want to know what your oppinions are, or a better alternative, or if i should wait for something (i have been out of the loop for a few months so i don't know whats coming out, or if anyone knows if somethings coming out)

Don't you have a 9600GT? why not try overclocking it for fun!

um... your resolution would be very very handful

yeah i have a 9600gt, (i have overclocked it to it's pretty much max) it's just not cutting it for me, i want better settings in games, and better frame rates.

sorry, i forgot to mention this in the OP......1680x1050

It will be going with a q6600 at 3.6ghz.

Wow... HD 4850/ HD 4870 are your best bet...

9600GT is more for 1440 res

well the 4870 x2 beats it but that's cause it's a dual gpu card. put 2 GTX 260's in sli and they will tear up a 4870 X2

^whats wrong with the 4870 x2. I heard it's a beast. Plus i want this to last for atleast a year, hopefully.

Its highly overboard for such a low resolution, and you have to deal with the issues that come with all Dual GPU cards..

- heat, power sucking.. etc etc

Go with either: HD 4870/GTX 260 Core 216/ HD4850/9800GTX+

HD 4870 = GTX 260 Core 216 (HD 4870's are usually cheaper)
HD 4850 >(slightly) 9800GTX+ (HD 4850's are usually cheaper)
