Hi. I am building a gaming system and I am wondering which card is the best for me. I want to run new games at a resolution of 1680x1050 at max or near-max settings with decent frames. I am trying to decide between the following cards:

8800GTS 320MB
8800GTS 640MB
ATI HD 2900 XT 512MB
8800 GTX

I am leaning towards an Nvidia card but am open to suggestions. Would it be worthwhile to get the GTX?

well of course the 8800GTX is going to be the best, but you got a wide budget there, from high 200's to mid 500's.

if you can spring for the GTX get it, otherwise the 2900PRO is your best bet if you can find it.

the ultras like 120 more than the cheapest GTX...and performance increase is minimal... thats definitely not worth it. and SLI 2900s are gonna cost 750+. im looking for around the 400-500 price range.

do Crossfire 2900PROs beat out a 8800GTX? AND if they do...is it by a wide margin? Won't that limit upgradibility in the future? (for instance, instead of buying an extra GTX ill hav to scratch both 2900s and get a new card)

Also, (completely off topic) I am wondering how ASUS mobos are and what is a good one i could get (from ASUS)?
