Default HELP! building new computer

Im lookin to build my own computer because alot of people have told me you can get more for your money than when you just go out and get one from bestbuy. Im lookin to spend around $1000 - $1200. I make beats and edit video so i need lots of storage so i was lookin to get a 500gb - 1tb hdd. Atleast 4gb of ram and a good quad core processor. And i want a really good video card that would support hd video and great gaming if i decided to play some games. Some one help me out with some suggestion on some hardware i should get. Thanks.

If you get something 24 inches big then make sure you get at least a card with 512mb such as the 8800GT. I would suggest an 8800 GTS 512 as he did.

$550 seems expensive, but the 8800GTS should do fine at max graphics settings at that resolution, except in Crysis of course.
