Help building my first PC

I have an old Dimension c521 that can hardly play any games so I have been wanting to build a new computer but am limited on money though

This is what I think ill be using

-AMD Athlon X2 7850 Black Edition Kuma 2.8GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache 2MB L3 Cache Socket AM2+ 95W Dual-Core Processor
-ASRock A780LM AM2+/AM2 AMD RS780L (760G) Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
-EVGA e-GeForce 8800GTS 320MB
-PC Power and Cooling Ultra-Quiet Silencer Series 420W ATX12V Computer Power Supply PPCS420X, Supports PCI-E, SATA, 80 PLUS Certified
-Kingston 2048MB PC5400 DDR2 667MHz Memory

All together little over 300$

Would this run most upcomming games? And any New games that are already out? And I don't need to be able to run games on high, all i want is to make sure the games run smooth. And i keep the resolution at basic 1024x768

All good choices, but you'd probably be better off getting a 790 chipset mobo, and an ATX one instead of mATX.
And you'd be better off going with 800MHz RAM.

That rig should play most new games at least on medium, considering you're running at 12024x768.

You might want to get 512MB version of the 8800GTS instead.

What OS will you be using?

I would be using XP as the OS

I agree with Yamikotai, get a 512mb card to be on the safe side, it won't be much more expensive. As long as you stay at that resolution you will be able to play modern games at reasonable settings.
