i was thinkinga bout getting the amd 3700 san diego with about 1 gig of ram...about the mobo...i'm not really sure which is the best..for my psu was think about like 500-550 watts...as for the video card...i was thinking about getting a 7800 or 7900...but i need help on making these desicions.

sorry that its not very detailed on what i want in my system...i'm not that great in hardware..but i plan on learning more about them...

anyways...if u guys could help me out...i would glady appreciate it...thanks

peace

You really don't need that great of a computer to run CS source, but for ur budget, I would suggest a 7900 gt and a 3800 x2 AMD proccessor. For the mobo, get a DFI ultra-d.

I would suggest 2 gigs of ram.The amd 3700 is enough for most games I think...And of course a good 550watts psu.

k here is what you need.

DFI Lanparty UT ULtra-D $120-Motherboard
AMD X2 3800+ about $320-Processor
eVGA 7900 GT $300-Graphics Card
OCZ PowerStream 520Watt or Antec Truepower II 550watt, the OCZ has more ampage, infact its almost double that of the antec, $80-120
Corsair XMS 2x1gb dual channel $160-Memory
WD Raptor 74GB 10krpm $155-System Hard Drive
WD Caviar 250GB $85-Storage Hard Drive
Thermaltake Tsunami about $100-Case
NEC 3550A $30-Optical Drive
Saitek Eclipse and Logitech G5 $60- Keyboard/Mouse
Logitech X-530 5.1 speaker $60
Viewsonic VX922 2 ms $320 ( weekend sale)-monitor

thats abotu $1810, if i missed anything there is $190 left.

I'm going to be building a very similar system as the one john3 suggested.

You will need a dual core processor if you want to use the new physics card when it comes out. I was also going to get the 3700, But now the 3800 x2 is on my list :)

I was thinking about getting the G.SKILL Extreme Series 2GB DDR 500 (PC 4000) ram $192 with instant savings of $35 = $157.

What would be a better choice, G.SKILL Extreme Series or Corsair XMS?

The Saitek Eclipse was on my list until I found out it doesn't have play, stop, pause, track skip etc... :( So if you need those buttons/keys look at a different key board.

All in all, that will be a nice build:cool:
